Procedural virtual reality
The surface model was created with Alias Autostudio, rendered and animated with VRED pro, while editing and animated graphics were done with After Effects.
The cathedral of Santa Maria Novella in Florence was built over a longer period of time than anyone can imagine. In fact, the works began during the period in which the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri was written, and then ended in the same decade in which the first Chicago skyscraper was built.
The infographic shows the years of construction of the various parts of the cathedral, in conjunction with other important buildings of the city of Florence, from the Gothic architectural style to the Art Nouveau style.
